Ohlins vs Ricor Comparison
I can't say i can justify $600+ dollars for the chance of having a better ride....I am sticking with stock....
Rode 2 up in the hills this weekend (no luggage) and all was well...I just asked my wife what she thought and she said the ride was good....I guess if i had the money to throw at it i might but i have a lot of other stuff i can improve before that....

When I spoke to Howard last, the Ohlin drop-in cartridges weren't ready yet. (May/June???) I recall they were originally trying to go with 25mm units and decided they weren't going to do the job, so they've gone to trying to get 30mm ones to work. The key in my mind is the new triple tree top clamp and longer fork legs with more overlap. I find the front end of my RK too 'whippy' when it comes right down to it. The better you get things working, more flaws seem to pop up.
I have had a set of Ohlins from Howard for about 2 1/2 years now. I previously had Steel Trackers and Progressive 440s, after the stock junk.
The Ohlins are vastly superior to any of the others. I run them on the lowest preload setting when riding solo, and add a bit of preload when loaded up.
The Ohlins made as large an improvement as the addition of a rear stabilizer, in my case, Accu-Trak.
I have been running Race Tech Gold valves up front for about 5 years now, and if I have a beef, it's that I have too much damping dialed in. I'm planning of tearing off the front end in the spring and resolving that.
My advice to anyone who is reasonably happy with their 'stock' setup, (yeah, like that's possible) don't ride anything with any amount of 'modded' suspension work. You'll be sorry.
