I have that button and it rattles like crazy at between 2800 and 3000 rpms. I understand that there is a Screaming Eagle virsion, I would look at that one.

I have the same one, but mine doesn't rattle. You might want to be sure the ring is tight.

What Dawg said. I didn't need a stinkin' lock on my fuel door so I replaced it with the mushroom button. Works great, looks cleaner, and I don't have to look for a (useless) key when I get gas.
Ditto!!
Back in the 70's......MAYBE someone would try to steal your fuel......
Now....this is just a useless lock for 99% of the people who have one.
Smooth chrome dome push button is the way to go....PS: NO RATTLE HERE EITHER....
since the second week of owning my 08 i've not had to dig into the pocket of my jeans or jacket for the key to fuel the bike. i installed the chrome button and it's so much easier than using a key to open the fuel door. i remember that was one of the things that was irritating with my new bike, being new to the type of console that the flhx has, same as your flht. it's a real simple solution, and an easy install.
I have the smooth push button, with no rattle.
I even kept it when I traded bikes and transfered it, no rattles on either bike.
In case you ddin't know, that lock really isn't much of a lock.
Any barrell key will inlock it.
It doesn't even have to be a harley Barrell key. I tried a key that came with a safe I bought at Walmart and it would unlock it.
