I had a 2007 FLHRCI... now have a 2010 FLHTK. Put 60K on the 07.. 2K on the 10. Night and day difference and I wouldn't go back to my old bike for all the money in the world. If you are considering upgrading just do it... the new bikes handle superbly.
yes! i just bought a 2007 flhx two months ago,had it about three weeks and test rode a 2010 flhx. It rode amazing! so amazing a traded and bought a 2010 scarlet red flhx and i love it! it is much smoother, more stable!
Can't speak to the 07, but can tell you that my '10 SG is the best handling cruiser I've ever ridden. It even rivals my last Ducati ST4S on a crusier level.
Big difference in handling. The 09's were the first year of the new frame and the last year of the "No cat in the headpipe".
The 09's will be desireable just from that standpoint.
I'm not knocking the new frame. Everyone says they handle better in the twisties and being stiffer they will have an advantage. I own an '07 and have Metzler 880s and heavy fork oil which really improved my bikes handling. The '09s and '10s come with a much better handling tires than the old Dunlop 402s so they have an advantage from the get go. Although there are other problems with some of those tires. I've rideen my buds '09 and it seems to ride rougher than my '07. I think the new low profile tires have less give than the old 16s. Personally, I think if your main concern is freeway riding, not agressive mountain riding, you might prefer your '07 or not notice the difference. The older bikes are great when set up with better tires and heaviier fork oil. If it has rear steer issues there are braces available. The newer Brembo brakes are a definite upgrade for freeway riding. Test ride a new bike and decice for yourself. Only you know what is important to you.
I swapped bikes w my bud so he could experience my 103/255 upgrade, he has a 2007 SG - mine an 09.
I thought something was disconnected in his suspension - the bike squirmed and rode like it had low pressure in the rear tire. Ridiculously loose on crowned rough corners. Yeah, BIG difference!
