Man this is a bigger job then I thought. It's mostly time consuming. I got the old pipes off and will install the new ones tomorrow then off to the dealer for the SERT and Stage one a/c and Dyno. Can't wait!
I talked to a Tech friend of mine and he says that although he loves Rineharts, all of the Techs hate to put them on. They are the biggest PITA in his words!
I put mine on the other night. Yes, they are a little more time consuming than the VH duals and slip ons. I had the stockers off, rineharts on and running in 2 hours. Let me tell you a trick I learned......
Take the left muffler off first, heat shields next, left pipe, take the right floorboard loose, unbolt the 2 pipes from the heads and pull all that $hit off together. I was really dreading the removal of the stock pipes but after looking at it, and deciding on a different approach, it worked really well. As far as the install on the rineharts, just like anything else.....do not tighten anything until you have it aligned and straight like you want, and then gradually tighten things up......
Thanks for the info on the install. I took the old ones off already. They were a pain getting thm off the engine, I used a rubber mallet and still couldn't seperate them so I removed the two header pipes as one piece like said in an above post it worked a lot easier that way. I don't think the rineharts will be as bad going on as the stock ones were coming off. I can't wait to hear how they sound.
pay attention to the directions very close, get it right down to every bolt and washer, also before you start, make sure you take the stock gaskets out of the headers, i and a few others made this mistake, its very easy to pass them by, the stock gaskets really blend well in the headers. go to a local hardware store and replace the stock flange nuts with steel lock nuts. the stock nuts that they want u to reuse will keep loosening up on you, so i used locking nuts instead ( do not use nylon locking --too hot! you need steel lock nuts) do not get ahead of yourself, take one step at a time!
