SE Ventilator or Heavy Breather for 09 Street Glide
In comparison of the two high flows you mentioned, there is probably going to be no real performance difference to speak of. Reason is, both are wide open. But your air intake is still going to be limited to sometime of air intake tubes (cant remember what they called them) that is stock on the bike. Its like putting a gigantic funnel on a 1/4" tube. You are still only going to get the flow that the 1" tube will allow.
However, a local speed shop advised that some AC's do perform better than others. Believe it or not, a High Flow under your stock football will perform slightly better than either of the 2 SE's mentioned. They said for some reason the motor uses the air better if it is drawn from behind the cover. Must be a little more uniform delivery. The blast of air straight on the SE air filter offers no improvement at all. They are all for looks on a stock motor. Nothing against that....I bought the ventilator for its looks and size for my SG. And by the way, the shop offering the advise owns the speed record for one of the classes in the AHDRA (Thiels Wheels). All they are concerned about is performance. For the average application, they will always recommend the High Flow of your choice, Thundermax or SE Pro Tuner and a D&D Fat Cat or Thunderheader 2 into 1. Duels and short open exhaust hurt performance also.
Just repeating what I have heard. And I trust these guys. I am not super concerned about milking every horsepower out of my bikes. As you can see my wifes Fat Bob has Short Shots and I have a ventilator on my SG. But that is what I wanted on each for my own personal reasons.
Good luck with your choice!
