02 Ultra Classic - Electrical - bike runs - no headlights, instruments, light bar
2002 Ultra FI. Bike pulled out after winter storage. (battery tender in place) however the battery had gone bad. Replaced the battery and the bike will start and run fine but now I have no instruments, headlights, passing lights, or the engine status bar however the turn signals and break lights work.
Checked the fuses and they are good. Took a volt meter and checked the fuse block for these fuses and I have no power to them. Looking at a wiring diagram I am thinking it might be the ignition swith but not sure.
have you checked the connectors where your different looms plug into your main wiring harness? you can surely backtrack from the fuse panel and just track it to where you no longer have power. going from the powered section to where it quits. that would indicate where you need to unplug, clean, inspect the connection, grease it with dielectric grease, and see if then you have power beyond that point. you may need to pull the outer fairing, not a big deal and get to checking everything with probes of a voltmeter or easier i find, a good quality test light.
Take the out fairing off and inspect the wire bundle that runs horizontal over the radio. They have a nasty history of rubbing on the vertical fairing supports and chaffing thru wires. This will knock out certain items on the bike depending on which wires chafe.
Just a thought, but since you said the fuses are all fine.........that idea might not help you out.
