As I was riding along yesterday the AVC (automatic volume control) just stopped working.I tried re-adjusting at speed to no avail,I went back and forth from lowest setting to highest setting, then shutting off the AVC altogether and NOTHING,dammit,so it's definitely not working all of a sudden. The volume does not change at all now. This sucks!!Any ideas it's on 2006 Ultra with 39k miles and never had an issue before now.If it's a radio problem that can't be fixed do you think that it would be covered under warranty,I have the extended warranty (bumper to bumper)?Any help would be greatly appreciated.I did put in the JM speakers but that was a few months back.Thank for the help all,
Mark
No experience with the radio failure, but had several other issues covered under the HD ESP; you'll probably pay $50 deductible and get a refurb radio.
HD has an Electrical Diagnostic Manual for your model year that has a specific diagnostic procedure for AVC not working--Symptom 21. Before I had them change out the head unit I'd have them go through the diagnostic procedures since AVC failure may be caused by the ECM's failure to send the vehicle speed information to the head unit.

Thanks Carl,
I rode down to the dealer yesterday the service manager took it right in.They hooked up to diagnostic computer, reset to factory specs and it works again, very cool. And knowing I needed a rear tire he asked should we go ahead and do that, well yeah, all with no appointment. The guys at Lakeland Harley are definitely the best I've dealt with, and they would have replaced the radio under my extended warranty if needed. Thanks again,
Mark
