Default Could my frame be tweaked???

Have an ongoing issue with my saddlebags not lining up even on both sides. One seems to sit higher than the other. Well I was doing a little work today and something else caught my eye. It appears that the crash bar sits further to once side than the other when looking at the front of the bike. I measured it and it is actually about a 1/2" over to the right more than the left. Can someone tell me what would cause these misalignments??? Frame out of whack or something else???

I should also add that there was something I noticed a while ago with what looked like a bad frame weld. Asked about it and apparently it is normal.

You might try re-adjusting the saddlebag brackets (the ones that bolt to the frame) with your saddlebags attached making sure the brackets are even on both sides. Also make sure your saddlebags are down in the rubber bumpers on the top of the saddlebag frame. I'd do the same thing with the crash bar. Loosen the bolts where it attaches at the top and see if it will slide over a little.

Not sure about the RG saddle bag mounts, but I assume they are similar or same as the batwings. The mounts can be loosened up and adjusted. At least they can on mu 09 Ultra. So that might be the issue on the saddle bags being slightly off.

As for the crash bar, if the bike has ever been down it seems that the bar could get tweaked 1/2 inch fairly easily.

Saddlebag brackets have been adjusted every way possible. Thing is they only really control front to back adjustment. As you can see in the pics the right side actually sits higher than the left. And don't really see how the crash bar could be adjusted side to side. It attaches with the one single bold in the middle.

If you lay both saddle bag mounting brackets next to each other, possibly you could tell if one has been bent. Maybe the bike had been dropped and bent one of them.

I don't think your frame would be bent. Did you buy this bike new, used, history, what year. I didn't think they painted the side panels that way until the limited came out this year.

Anyway I think if you loosen the saddlebag rails that go under the bags and also the holding brackets on both sides you can move one down and the other up enough that they line up. I don't see where the front crash bar is off that much and may have got bumped but wouldn't bend the frame. I have put a couple back into the floorboards and not bent the frame.

Good luck.

So how are these bikes attached inside the crate when they are delivered to a dealership??? I know this one was brand new but came from a sister dealership. Wondering if they strapped down using the crash bar and saddlebag supports and torqued the straps too hard.
