Been reading as much as I can about replacing the speakers on my 09 Ultra. I've used the search feature and saw many recommendations for particular brands. I do have a question though. When I do pick which brand I want, am I looking for the 2 ohm or 4 ohm type ? I just want to replace the speakers and not install a power amp.

Ok thanks. Using the charts on that link if I run (4) 2 ohm speakers my impedance is going to be 0.5 ohms and if I run (4) 4 ohm speakers it will be 1 ohm.
I thought that I read somehwere that if I use the 4 ohm speakers instead of the stock 2 ohm speakers that I won't be able to crank the volume up as much. Is that true ? I'm not looking for ear shattering volume but would be bummed if I got the 4 ohm speakers that will work, but then won't have as much volume.

If you wire two 4 ohm speakers in parallel for each of your two front channels (left and right) the amp will see 2 ohms impedance per channel which is fine for your HK head unit.
If you use two four ohm speakers, one for each channel, the head unit will work fine, but you will need to set the volume slightly higher to get the same volume that you'd get from 2 ohm impedance speakers.
Boss audio 4 ohm speakers work great...link to website.
I just put these Boss Audio speakers in my EGC. They sound much better than the stock speakers and I only have to turn the volume up a little bit more than before. No distortion. And the best part? $9 a piece!
