National Life and local member. Our local chapter is a great club and we try to attend some of there events when we can. Don't like going to any meetings, but they still treat us like family when we do show up.
I am fairly new to this area, so I joined the local chapter hoping to me other riders and have some people to ride with. I try to ride with them as much as I can. I have met enough people through them, that I now have some friends to ride with without the chapter.
Every year I ask myself why am I give Harley all this money for basically nothing, my local chapter is kind of a turd and the club always has it's hand out for more and more money for all it's pet projects and donations.
But I keep rejoining every year hoping maybe this year will be differant, it wouldn't be so bad if you could just join the local chapter without have to send Harley there pound of flesh every year.
I joined twqo years ago and really enjoy working with the local chapter. we do quite a few fundraisers for MDA and other local orginizations. Our dealer is also very active in supporting our chapter.
Other dealers may not be as nice though. You may want to ask around and see how your local chapters may meet your needs.
