Wife and I are both National and Local Members. First year came with the Bike and we liked our local chapter enough that we renewed for the second. Great people and we do some fun rides and charity work.
Works for us.
Great Atlas. Got lucky even though my free 1 year deal ended on my Street Glide (and I wasn't going to renew) I got the 2010 package in the mail (with my new atlas). Went back and double checked my cc statements to make sure I wasn't stealth charged. Turns out they just screwed up and kept me on for an extra year. Always have had plenty of friends that ride and not big on meetings either, so HOG is just not for me.
Ill be honest, I'm not an ACTIVE HOG member but I keep the membership just for the roadside assistance. It covers up to 2 bikes for $45 a year. Can't beat it.
Same here .. Get the $10 or $20 upgrade for the bikes and for another $20 they will cover up to 3 cars with the towing and road service. AAA for my wife and daughter was over $100 per year
local chapters are all different go to there meetings and check it out (u dont have to be a member to check them out ),one chapter by me rides from bar to bar the other by me only stops at the bar for lunch if ever .
As long as the free membership was intact with the purchase of my Ultra I was a member. Found the atlas lacking. As long as you ride the major roads it was okay but if you like the little know roads they were missing from the atlas. I didn't join the local chapter as it was too big a yuppie thing for me. After the freebie was up that was it and have never considered it.
I joined the local hoping to meet others and have people to ride with. All I can say is our local chapter exceeded my expectations and now the wife joined as an associate because she enjoyed the people and rides so much.
Our local is very busy during riding season although we do seem to eat alot since we have a zero tolerance policy re: alcohol. We have a monthly Sunday brunch ride, Friday fish fry rides and ice cream ride. We have several overnite rides and ride lead in all of the city parades.
We don't hang or ride much with the local chapter. Mainly my membership pays for itself because my dealer gives me 15% off everything except service, which I do myself. Sometimes I just want the part in my hand; not wait for ordering online for an extra 5%.
Also we used it to secure tickets for the 100th & 105th Birthday Parties in Milwaukee. Both were Great times with friends.
Like some I just have the membership from buying my bikes. I should use the benifits more. I notice my local chapter is very active in the comunity all year long. The do more fundraisers then any school or club I have ever seen. Seem like great people.
