Default Steering head grease fitting

I thought I would grease the steering head today on my '06 road Glide. There is a zerk at the bottom of the neck, but the fairing bracket is to close to get the grease gun onto the fitting.
I had to remove the lower bracket bolt and loosen the top bolt.At that point I could tilt the faiaring forward to get the grease gun on the fitting.
I removed the straight zerk and replaced with a 45 deg. zerk so I dont have to do this again.
I can see a dealer saying "yes it was greased", but I can't see them doing it because this is a PITA issue.
MAYBE THEY HAVE A SPECIAL "HARLEY GREASE GUN"???

They don't have a harley grease gun....they just used a grease fitting for their grease guns that just slide on from the side and load the grease. I have one that I bought at Tractor Supply Center for $5.00 dollars and it's perfect.....

Good luck.

Napa gets about $12 for the 90 degree grease gun fitting. Lots easier than replacing the bike's grease fitting.

The Napa fitting locks into place when you slide it on. Makes that first grease job easier when you are pumping in about 1/4 tube of grease to fill up the neck and get grease to come out the top bearings.

Wish we had a Tractor Supply store.

I greased mine while I had the headlight out, straight shot to the grease fitting.

On my Raod King, I just turned the handlebars to the right, unscrewed the straight fitting and replaced it with a 90 degree fitting. 5 minutes and 50 cents in parts and now I can get on the fitting with a straight grease coupler that comes on the grease gun.

I was being sarcastic about the Harley grease gun.
Obviously a straight coupler wont fit.Now I know that 45-90 couplers are availible!
