If I'm going on a trip that might have rain I bring my FF helmet. If I just get caught in the rain I switch to my goggles. But no way can I ride a long distance in the rain without a FF helmet.
I've found that how far I can ride in the rain with or without the proper gear is entirely dependent on how far I have to go.
I saw a neoprene mask with goggles built in at Alef's HD in Wichita last year. They weren't cheap (can't remember the price now) but looked pretty effective. I searched the web for the manufacturer and never found anything. Has anybody tried something like this?
I picked up a pair of Global Vision Outfitters of Ebay with the yellow tint.
Since I wear RX glasses I needed something that would fit over them. I had a pair of Guard Dogs I use to use but since I bought these I use them exclusively.
They fit over my glasses well and have the foam which keeps the rain out. Also comes in handy for those windy days. They came with an elastic strap that helps keep them snug.
I read somewhere that if you wear sunglasses in the rain your supposed to be able to see better but I really can't vouch for that. I normally wear saftey glasses but have a hard time with them. I gotta find something though so will be watching this thread.
Yellow tint dramatically improves vision in overcast conditions. I got tired of cheap goggles with distorted lenses. I really like WileyX. Not cheap $60+, but worth the money. IMO.
I've tried all the Wiley-x products and none of them fit my big head.
I had a hard time finding a pair that would fit properly over the bridge of my nose. Same reason I can't wear Oakley Half Jackets. I finally found a pair (XL-1 I think) that fit, and they fell apart in less than a year. I can usually find the cheap ones on a 2-for-1 sale for less than $20. I'd love to have a really nice pair of riding glasses, but I haven't found a set that's worth the money yet.
I wear px sport glasses from wallmart seem to work ok on short runs. For me its the little rain bbs smacking my face, end up riding like its a crotch rockit with my face behind the windshield.
