My step dad had an Electra Glide Classic with the internal clock like ours have, and when he wasn't riding it he had the trickle charger on it. The dealer knows I'm going off to the military and that the bike would probably sit a week or two at a time without being rode. My question is, do I need to hook my bike up to one of these chargers?
Anytime the bike sits for an extended period it is good to have the battery tender hooked up to it. The battery can be drained by things like the little flashing red key for the alarm, etc.
I keep mine plugged into a Battery Tender when I'm not riding my 2010 FLTRX. The tender will not over charge the battery and it'll keep it optimum charge while you're gone, so YES....
Motorcycle Superstore had them for around 39.00 bucks or so...I would get one and get the Battery Tender Super Smart charger, you can install the pigtail permanently and hid the plug....when you pull into the garage, just hook it up and forget about it....also your battery will last a lot longer ( 4 years is not unheard of)....
