Default 25K service

Just did my 25K service except for the fuel filter. Didn't know that was required till after I got done. I'm going to Orlando from Ark in June, so I guess it would be good to change the filter, but the book says an "upper plate removal tool" is needed. The part number the book gave me was no good, but the local HD mechanic said it was about $180.

I'm just wondering what the best option is to get the filter changed out. 180 bucks seems a little steep to me.

You don't need the tool to remove the cam on the 08 tank. If you insist on buying one, JIM's makes/sells them. HERE's one for $130ish. You can use a blunt object and tab a few of the tabs to work off the cam. Very easy swap.

Just make sure that blunt object is brass or aluminum and NOT steel. Sparks and gas fumes dont get along to well!

Removed the petcock twice to clean my carbed Dyna's fuel filter screen. Didn't find a speck either time. I've decided I'm going to push for at least 50k before I mess with that fuel cartridge. 37k so far and no trouble.

My fuel filter was pretty dirty at around 30k and kinda surprised me. Glad I replaced it.
