Taking off the Tour Pak

I swap mine on and off all the time. I dont use the HD quick disco. its 4 bolts to take of the factory mounting. I HATE the quick disco because the tourpack always jiggles. It looks like its going to fall off. Basically, pull the saddle bags off, pull up on the rear frame covers, pull the side bolts, Take the 2 off at the plate bracket and put the bags back on. Eaaasssyy fohsheezy. And you dont spend $500+ bucks AND you dont have the lame *** disco brackets sticking out the back of your bike.

I pulled mine off on my 09 ultra classic and it took 30 mins tops with no service manual. All the wires are quick disconnect from HD I also purchased a amplified antenna for the stereo and installed it under the front fairing but left the wire with the bundle ziptied all the cables under the seat that I would not be using any more like the intercom and CB left the rest tucked in real nice for quck retrieval. For the tour pak I am going to put small bullet tips on the antenna studs for looks then just buy the QD mount from HD P/N 53276-09a looking at about 180 instead of 550 for the whole kit. Made license plate bracket out of aluminum and installed a street glide seat from ebay.

Another reason that I probably won't buy the QD kit is,I'm not sure if I like the tabs that are showing on the strut covers when the pac is removed.I'd probably end up taking them off every time I took the tour pac off.Maybe I'm too picky?

What's your reason to take it off riding around town? To look cool or what? I find I use mine more in town than I do on trips, because you're in town a lot more than on trips. It's great for going to the grocery store. I've load a case of cokes and 6 bags of groceries into my TP and saddle bags, and you couldn't tell I had anything . That's cool!
