Default Seat question

What's up guys. My old man has a 2001 Harley Ultra Classic I assume it has the touring package cause it has the trunk on the back. Well the other night he was complaining that his seat hurts his a$$ and was thinking about buying an aftermarket seat. So my sisters and I are going in together to get him a seat for an early bday present. I have a Corbin seat for my Honda and I was going to order a Corbin for him too. But they are kindve expensive. He will want the back rest and his gf rides with him all the time. What do you guys think are the most comfortable seat? I looked at the mustang seats last night and it kindve looks like you can use the factory backrest for the driver. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Oh he is about 5'10"-6'0" and probably 160-180..

Depends. Does he want a seat close to stock height? Or does he want to go lower or further back? I'd ask these questions and then start emailing aftermarket companies.
Mustang solo w/backrest will move him about an inch highter and further fwd (the opposite of what I want so I passed them up).
Corbin can take you lower and back depending on which seat.
Like I said, I'd ask him where he wants to sit and then start calling/emailing aftermarket manufacturers.

I tried the Mustang seat and tour pack passenger set up and the passenger piece wouldn't fit due to my Airwing luggage rack

HD Sundowner or Mustang would be my choice.

I can't; for the life of me, understand why people send the money they do, on aftermarket seats.
Why not find a good reliable upholster and have the existing seat "redone"?
The upholster; if he's good, will check out your DAD sitting on the bike and make the proper recommendations on form density, seat slope etc, and then redo the existing frame.
Far better to do this then "experiment" with after market seats.

I have had Mustang seats on my last 2 bikes and absolutely love them. I think the Corbin is too hard. The Mustang would be my choice. If you have some time before his B'day check Ebay, you can usually find good deals on the Mustang seats there. Good luck and Happy B'day to him.

Thanks for such the quick replies! His bday isn't until august, we just figure he is a hard person to shop for and I know he wants a different seat. I had no clue there were that many options on buying a seat haha I just figured it was all like the factory seat.. I wasn't going to say anything bout it and make it a surprise. I think he is fine where he is in the seat, he just was saying how he wishes it had more padding.

Seats are such a personal and subjective thing I would never buy a seat for someone else and surprise them. I'd talk to him first and see what he thinks and might like. Most seats you are not able to return, so it could be an expensive mistake.

And we were going to get it for him soon was because he will get more use out of it now thru summer than he would if we got it on his bday then he would never get to use it cause it will be sitting for the winter.
