Mine is a 09 EGC. And tour pack shakes bad at idle. Often worried if anything would break off.

The backrests are mounted with rubber isolators. There was a bad run of them during the 2009 model year. Pull on the backrest a bit and see if it seems partially detached. Your dealer will replace all three that come as a set.

Mine is a 2010. I will ask the dealer about it when I take it in for its first service. I have had the backrest off and have seen the rubber isolators you talk about. I wonder if the defective batch carried over to 2010?

Mine shakes like a **** at idle. I thought that was just part of the experience. The G/F never complained about it as it smooths out once underway. Hell the roads are so bad here in Ohio the bike vibes are the least of her worries.... lol

I would look carefully at the mounts to make sure that there isn't much play in there but the 09's and up have a stiffer suspension and frame.

MY 2010 was doing it pretty badly at idle as well, I removed the backrest, and lined where it contacts the TP with refrigeration foam tape. It solved the issue for me and made my wife happy.

Thanks
I have an 02 with an aftermarket pak. I heated some flatbar and twisted it for looks, painted it, bolted it from the bottom of the tour pak to the lower frame on both sides. This put a stop to tour pak shake.

I only have the low sissy bar with pad back there on my 2009 SG that is pretty much hard mounted to the frame. The wife says it buzzes really bad on her lower back. I am going to try a small AirHawk pad about half inflated and see what happens.

I have a detachable riders backrest that stays detached alot because it buzzes too.

The rest of my SG really smooths out nicely when cruising.

The thread isn't about whether an 09/10 is better than an 08, I could really care less what you ride. The fact remains that it's a problem on my bike and I wanted some real comments on other people experiencing this. Obviously other passengers experience this and like the saying goes, " If the wife aint happy then no one is". The tour pack on my bike looks like it's going to fly off at idle, but so do the handlebars. I know, I know, it's all about the experience, whatever. I drilled the holes bigger tonight in the tour pack where the back rest attaches and put some rubber sleeves through the holes to see if that helps. The tour pack is tight, that isn't the issue. I might have to try some sort of rubber mount for the tour pack itself.
