Considering an 05 EG Standard. For me it would be a good way to get into a bagger at a more reasonable cost (with any luck I might be able to keep my 01 Night Train I bought a while back) and I like the closer to Street Glide look.
Are the Standards prewired for radio, speakers, cruise? Would like to add these as budget permits so just wondering if it was a matter of plug and play or not.
Yes to prewire for radio. You would then need to purchase and wire speakers to head unit. Believe wiring is there for cruise though, again, you would have to purchase the cruise control parts...believe it's around $250.
Would that include wiring to the rear speakers as well?
Trying to think this through. By the time I added all the stuff I might be better off just waiting/saving for one with those items and the tourpak that I would want for the wife's comfort/safety and storage.
emwolb, that's what I keep telling myself. I think it might be the way to go. Asking price on particular bike is $8900. Very low miles..less than 20k if I remember right. But needs a bag repainted. Looks like about $1100 in new parts to add a king tour pak with quick disconnect hardward. Looked on Chicago Harley site and looks like they are no longer offering discount.
I had an 05 Standard and they are pre-wired for everything, although I cannot confirm the rear speakers (because I never put a tour pak on), but it does have the antenna line run to back.
Got my first Harley a few months ago...02 eg standard..For me it is a great way to start..Black like I wanted, low 10,000mi like I wanted and a price tag of 8,500.00. It is like a blank canvas with a hole in the middle where you throw all your extra money. In the process of installing biketronics stereo, bal 3 break light. chrome lowers new windshield rear end mods...Really starting to look the way I want it to.The silver motor is taking a little getting used to. But at least it remids me I am on a budget.
good luck.
