I installed the XM module on my 2010 FLHTK today. It was very simple and took only a few minutes. I used the ultra overlay as per the instructions. Does anyone know why there are so many extra connectors? Are there other things one can buy to add on once you have this overlay? There are 3 extra connectors on this thing!
I just installed last week on my classic. The overlay for me is way overkill. The only one I used was the XM and have no plans to add anything else on in the near future. But its nice to know I can.
When I got the XM it was $500 for the module and $40 for the cable. I like it alot and enjoy being able to change the channels right from the bars. I wish I could turn it up louder. It seems that the CD can get WAY louder. Maybe it's me, or the Fatcats.
I know what you mean about the HD XM radio module not being as loud as the CD, auxiliary in jack or radio, and it doesn't seem to have the fidelity of them either. Thoughts?

Mine sounds just fine. Same volume level as all the other feeds. I read somewhere that if the XM volume was lower than the other feeds there may be some connector problem that HD can find by hooking up the diagnostic tool.
I want to add XM to, but I'm afraid to ask...HOW MUCH??? I can't stop buying stuff!!
I got all 3 parts needed from Lake Shore HD.
76404-06 XM Radio
76456-06 FLH Ant Bracket
70164-06 Ultra overlay wire harness
total shipped was $475.51 which was 20% off retail of approx $592
If you don't want the harness that allows other accessories you can go with the basic Ultra overlay that is only a Y connector for the CB and XM only and save about $32 P/N 70172-06
I also bit the bullet and got the lifetime subscription which cost $476 with all fees and taxes. It seems high, but it is equal to about 4 years of service. I have a lifetime in my Corvette and it has paid for itself already.

Reason: Added comment about cheaper overlay
