2008 FLHT w/103 SE Stage 2, V&H true-duals & monster ovals & FuelPak. Biketronics kit w/Sony stereo and 6.5" speakers. Mustang solo, HD lowers and solo and 2-up detachable chopped tour-pak. I have the old jugs and take-off parts.
Anybody know what a unit like this should go for as a private sale? I'm thinking about upgrading but I'm afraid the dealer will rape me on a trade-in. I just don't know what a reasonable asking price would be.
It's well maintained and doesn't have a scratch on it. Original black. 10000K or 6500miles on it. For what it's worth, Kelly's Blue book says $15035USD for a stock 2008 FLHT...
The market is in the buyers favor right now. I'm just being honest an I think to sell it you'll basically have to throw all the add ons in for free. You may get $13,500 (that means pricing it at $14k because you know that a potential buyer will always offer a lower price). Just being honest. Then again if it's exactly what someone wants, you may get more.
Sounds like you'd be better off striping off the add ons and selling them seperate from the bike - at least the stereo, lowers, seat, and tour pack components. Sucks that you have to sell it in this economy.
That sounds like a killer bike. I think you should try to sell the bike as it is. The motor upgrades are the right ones (IMO, very good performance with proven reliability). I actually wish I was in the market right now, I'd definitely make you an offer if I were.
Have you figured out the retail cost of all the add-ons you've done to your bike? 6 thousand? More? You've got some functional options, and that's different than just spending a bunch of money on chrome. There's no reason you can't recoup some of that back at resale. Stress the options and their cost when you advertise.
Don't panic and take the first offer. Riding season is coming up soon, and you've got a very nicely optioned ride. Don't let the low ballers push you around. Buyers will pay for the right bike. Here's a couple of bikes that sold recently on ebay.
I recently traded in my Road King Classic and got KBB high Average for it. I also took off all of the extras that I then sold on Ebay and here in the classifieds. I got just under another 2k doing it that way. The dealers that I spoke with said it did not matter and I would not get anything for the extras from them. It took me a couple of hours work to remove the parts and put the originals on. The hardest part was packing everything up for safe shipping.
