Default taller gear

I have an 03 electri glide classic an want a litle taller gear however dont want to spend the money for a 6 speed trans. on a 03 bike. I ordered a 33 tooth front pulley to replace the stock 32 tooth. At 70 mph I am tacking 3000 rpms.and have been told the 33 should drop rpm to 2700. has anyone done this and can offer any advise. I have s an s 510 cams, sampson slipons k an n air cleaner an dynoed at 76 hp. I weigh 165 an wife 130 so I dont think I will suffer any horse power issues. advise pro or con welcomed. Thanks in advance.

I have no personal experience however my math tells me you will drop about 100 rpm not 300.

Any change like that is a case of simple arithmetic. Use 33/32 to find the new speed you will be travelling at for given revs, or 32/33 to get the figure you mention. So from 3,000rpm with your old gearing, you will now be running 32/30 x 3,000rpm, or 2,909rpm (not 2,700).

Doesn't sound like it's worth doing it that way.

on my 05 i thought the same thing, i think it could have used a taller primary without a problem had plenty of power to get off the line and would have loved to dropp the rpm to 2700 at 70 think that would be perfect gearing.
