1. The head is really compact so you can simply insert in the batwing cig lighter socket without sweating that it will be crushed at full lock, there is still a small clearance
2. There is a seperate 3.5mm take off in the head of the device, so you can feed that in to the Aux of the HK headset and you are fully connected. This means you only run the single IPhone connector to the IPhone and that takes care of charging and bring the sound back
3. There are buttons (basic I agree but better than nothing) for play / Pause, forward "wind" and "rewind". These are big and can be operated with a glove on
I have my Iphone in a ram mount and only a single lead going to the Iphone
As stated in the OP, I use a Ram Mount in the bars which I am happy with. Very common solution to that problem, but not really what the post was about.
This device allows you to run a single cable to the IPhone and connect to the Aux in the stereo and charge. Much neater
Finished up the install today. I know you can pull the AUX connection through the back of the headset and that would be neater but I am reluctant to pull the headset apart so I opted for the face entry.
I ran the cable in the gap under the headset
I had to modify the 3.5mm jack cable connector at the charge side as it is a bit tight in that corner of the fairing. I trimmed back the plastic support and created a compact 90 degree bend. Very pleased with the results and the basic control of the ipod functionality is very easy with gloves on
