I need to get my Road King dyno tuned. She's got new cams, air, mufflers, PCIII and a canned map for now.
How long should it take to get a custom PCIII-USB map made up? I'm hearing anything from "We'll get 'er done in 1 hour," to "make an appointment, drop the bike off, come back in 3 days to pick 'er up." These are both coming from well known tuners recommended on this board.
If it were local, I wouldn't mind dropping the bike off for a few days, but I can't find anything local. On the other hand, I don't want to lay out good $ for a rushed job, and I'm thinking 1 hour might be rushing it. But, then again, 3 days is a long time. Prices aren't much different, and I don't mind handing over good $ for a good tune, but what's up with the huge time difference for tuning a bike?
Depends on where they're starting the tune from. If it has existing map that's pretty close it shouldn't take that long to dial it in, but if they're building a map from scratch it will take a lot longer. When I had my cams done I had a new tune done to the existing map in my SERT. They had my bike for 3 hours(I was there waiting) and was probably on the tuner for about an hour.
Did you check out Rob's Dyno tuning in Gardner? I've talked to him and he makes appointments and can do it while you're there.
