Default Clutch cable luber question

Has anyone used the cable luber that you clamp on the cable and then spray the cable spray with success? I have the cable adjusted as loose as possible and the clutch lever out of the housing. Just can't quite get enough cable exposed out of the sheath to clamp the device to. Does the cable have to be totally disconnected down at the bottom maybe? Thnx.

I've never had luck with those. I either use the dri slide with the long needle attachment or use the method attached

Lot of good tips on here. I went to my local Dealer and bought the INOX cable lube. It has a long needle you can slide in the cable sleeve without taking it all the way off the lever housing. I loosened the adjuster all I could and pulled it out enough to slide the needle in. turn the handle bars to the right to get a little angle where the oil would run down inside. worked just fine.

Dawg, is this method is done with the cable still attached to the bike? Does the cable have to be hanging of sorts for this method to work?

Ron, thanks for that tip. I also have the lube with the long needle so I can always fall back on this method if need be. Sounds like it works just fine from you explanation.

Sorry, that's INOX cable lube. The parts guy said that's what the guy's in service uses on all bikes they service.

Any tranny oil will work, you can use what you put in the bike's tranny or primary. In order to do that, you have to unhook the cable from the perch and have it sort of standing up leaning against the perch.

I use the plastic bag method, cause it works great and well, it is cheap. I always use bar and chain lube (chain saw) instead of that light weight sissy oil. That stuff is some kind of sticky and tacky. Works great cause it won't weep out of your cable for a week. Lasts a long, long, long time.

I use one daily, no you do not have to disconnect the bottom of the cable but you do have to colapse the cable adjuster And adjust out the ceter screw at the clutch hub just until the cable stops getting longer at the perch end. Open the cable luber all the way and slip it over the housing then all the way over the cable.

Spray just long enough until it starts to spray out at the cable adjuster.
