You will notice an improvement with the Stage 1 but adding a tuner is a better option than the download.

The PC-V is roughly double what the Stage 1 download will cost. The Stage 1 download does nothing for air/fuel ratio (at least that is what my understanding is) so you wont get any engine cooling benifits. I'd say wait it out, and collect up another 150 bucks, contact Fuelmoto and get a PC-v. It's a platform for future growth and the guys at Fuelmoto will supply you wiht a pre-loaded map for your bikes config. What's easier than that!

On my TC96 I have nothing but Rush slip-ons, SE A/C and just the HD Stage 1 map because I knew I would not be making any further changes. It feels like a big improvement in ridability, a huge improvement in riding fun, a reduction in heat, and a noticeable improvement in performance. I've screwed around with a lot of builds in the past, and I tell you I could not be happier with my current set-up esp. considering the amount invested.

Very little noticable difference with only Stage 1 mods of air cleaner and pipes. I then had a SERT installed by stealer and dyno (at least I was charged for it). Bike ran a little better but mpg was poor, I mean poor. Took it to a dyno guy who knew SERT and now more HP, torque, and mpg jumped through the roof to 40+. I'm not much of a believer of just downloading a map and leaving it at that for optimal performance. Most riders here are which is fine by me.

Had a Stage 1 done in Dec of 09. I already had the exhausts and the dealer put a SE High Flow air filter and SERT on and tuned it on the dyno...I picked up about 5 HP, but I noticed my miles per gallon went down although the bike ran smoother and cooler. They "tuned and mapped" it in about 1 hour and did maybe a half dozen pulls to 5500. The whole deal cost me 750 out the door which was 25% off.

Last month took it to another dealer after talking to the service manager (who also did the work) and had it tuned again. This time they did close to 20 pulls, and were running it up at different throttle rates, etc. It took about 3.5 hours and he actually let me stand with him and explained what he was doing. I picked up 3 more HP but now the bike runs A LOT smoother and cooler.

Many here have said it, and I am a believer....a lot of this depends on who does the tuning. This guy was very good.

Stage 1 isn't going to give you a "it threw me back in the seat" difference in performance. It will give you a smoother, cooler running bike.

drjggood1, ifyou look at any number of dyno runs between 2000-3000 rpm,s with a stage 1 setup, you will see 1-2 horsepower and about the same in torque. if this is where you ride 90% of the time, you are not going to feel much difference. pipes, a/c, and download at around $700+ is alot for 2 HP. I should have saved the $ for later serious uggrades- 103 inch kit for $699. cobalt07

I to am going thru this decision.....I have a '10 SG, nearing 1,000 miles and will do the 1,000 mile warrenty work thru the dealer.

Finally getting some good riding weather in Denver and the season is starting. I have read all there is to read on FuelMoto and Stage One.
It's not the money, but I want to feel the difference once I get the upgrade. Reading this thread seems to me I should go with FuelMoto.

I feel I can do the install myself......but always want to run back to someone if it doesn't work. The HD dealer is only a mile away, just a saftey net.
