Default dropped screw in primary

Was ajusting the clutch last night and dropped a derby cover screw in the primary. (DON'T ASK) It was after a VERY long week at work. Anyway I tried to fish it out with no luck so this am I am gonna pull the primary cover off> My ? is. Is there a torque spec to put it back on if so I am screwed I do not have a torgue wrench. I am pickin up a new gasket this am sux because I just changed the primary fluid. F*&K F*&K F*&K is all I can say about it. But it is done and I will fix it. thanks for letting me rant.

it is 84-108 inch pounds and there is a bolt sequence and diffrent size bolts. you might want a manaul eather a H-D or a climer

You probaly have tryed this allready, but you didn't say. Before you pull the primary, try fishing it out with a magnet, or is the screw made of S/S.

If you do have to pull the cover, just drain the new fluid into a clean container then re-use it.

I did the same damn thing a couple of weeks ago. I didn't want to be the only one to admit it though. I didn't see it actually fall in so I spent an hr. looking everywhere before it dawned on me where it was.

....you don't NEED to torque it...jit's certainly ok if you do...but there isn't a ton of pressure build up in a primar..just use a cross pattern and snug em tight...been workin for me for over 30 years of taking covers on and off...and I usually re use the gasket at least once...they're a whole lot better gaskets than my old shovels had....

I bought a magnet at NAPA that is on an expandable rod used for just theses types of problems something like $15 works very good if bolt is not ss.l
