Please go into detail in explaining this to me. I'm an HD newb and have no idea how to use these compression releases or where they are
Thanks
The compression releases are those little silver things next to your spark plugs. They have a "button" on top which you press before you start the bike. They are designed to let air out of the combustion chamber as the engine cranks. This eases the load on the starter and battery on high compression engines and they should be used. Once the engine starts the compression snaps the button closed.
The Voltra Classic showed up this evening! Got it unloaded just in time for a quick lap around the block and then off to work for the evening. It's an '07 that's new to me. It seems to have had some internal engine work cause it hauls ***** and it also has a VERY nice lope at idle.
Me and the wife are pleased and are looking forward to enjoying our new scoot! I just wated to share some pics with ya'll
Here it was, all packed away
I was wondering how they got it turned sideways inside that trailer. The driver had some sort of homemade dolly and he spun the bike around while it was on the kickstand! Pretty impressive really!
She sure is purty. Lots of extra bling!
And The Voltage Regulator looks pleased with HER new ride!
Good lookin bike & you & yours look good on it stay safe & keep the bike clean for gods sake . ENJOY.
Can you post a pic so I can know what I'm looking at?
Thanks for the help
Look at the pic you posted of your wife with the bike. If you look at the engine you will notice a odd shaped piece of chrome sitting between the V shape of the engine cylinders and heads. That is your horn. If you look directly to the left of the horn you will see a black rubber wire. That is your spark plug wire. Follow it until you get to the connector that attaches it to the spark plug. On the front cylinder, just to the right of the spark plug you will see the little silver button I was talking about. There is also one on the rear cylinder just left of the spark plug. If you push the top of those you will hear a click. The engine is now ready to be started. You will hear them snap shut when the engine fires. If the engine starts and you ever hear a hissing sound, one or both of them are sticking. They need to be removed and lubed. That's probably for another thread.
