Default Quick Question

I have a well nut for the windshield which keeps pulling out. Is it ok to glue the well nut into the fairing?

I had the same problem with mine. It turned out that a couple of the holes that the well nuts sit in had worn into an obround shape, due to vibration. I epoxied 3/8" flat washers on the backside of the holes. I also got some well nuts off ebay that have a larger, for lack of a better description, mounting pad. I'm talking about the part of the well nut that the windshield actually sits on. I haven't had a problem since.

The dealers have a repair kit where the new brass inserts have threads on the outside and cut threads in the plastic. No idea what the part number is. Give them a ring, they will know what yer asking about...

The part number for the new inserts is 16585-96. This number was for my ultra, should be the same for your rg. I would not glue it. The slots in the insert goes in to the fairing. It is not for a screw driver. ( ask me how I know this }

Just get some 5-minute epoxy and glue the sucker back into the hole.
Did that on a friend's older bike and it's still holding.
Don't over tighten the screws when you reinstall them.

They are just threaded brass inserts. Use a bolt with 2 nuts on it threaded into the insert to screw it into the fairing. The slot end goes in first.

I had one come out on my Ultra. Like FXSTS-88 did, I just epoxied mine back in. That was over a year and have not had any problems since. Not sure what the repair kit cost is from HD but I already had the epoxy at home.

You have a road glide with rubber wellnuts, batwing fairings have brass inserts and are NOT interchangeable. Go get yourself some new well nuts and all will be golden!
