My dad-in-law has an '07 Ultra and the security system is giving him fits. This morning he said it took about 10 minutes to get the bike to crank and last week he gave up one morning after about 15 minutes. I went over to his last week and cranked it right up. Could the fob be going bad? He tried it in his pocket, in the key hole on the tank, behind the windshield (normal place he keeps it) and nothing seemed to work. The lights just kep flashing and the red key light never went off. Can the system be disabled?
after 2 years, change the batteries in the fobs, and take the card out of the back of the owners manual (it has instructions for manual override) go over it write the code on it and stick it in his wallet.
The system can't be disabled unless you change the security module to an older style.
It can be manually bypassed, must be done each time you start it. As others have stated change the battery. The antenna is located just under the seat on the right hand side. try puttin the remot in that area.
Definitely change the FOB battery before doing anything else. I have an '07 Ultra with security and because of security antenna location, I always keep the key in my right front pocket. I also change the FOB battery every year on June 1st. Have never had a problem. Some may say I'm changing batteries to early. But hey, when the FOB battery fails, it will be a cold dark rainy night in the middle of no where. And although I have the bypass procedure and codes on the card and in my wallet, It will be a bitch to do in the cold, dark rain. At least that would be my luck.
On a side note, the bypass operation will not work if the alarm is tripped, at least on my bike. I have to wait till the bike settles back down and goes to sleep; then it will let me input the bypass code.
If you move it before inputting your PIN the alarm will go off. IF you just turn the ignition switch and push both turn signals then you can input the PIN before the alarms goes off.
