Default Two-Up Passenger Help

Need some guidance from you more experienced touring riders. When my wife rides on the back of our Electra Glide her eye level is 1-2 inches above the top of my helmet. When we are at highway speeds her face is getting hammered by the wind coming up over the windshield.

I ride mostly solo so I have cut down the windshield so that it is a good 2-3 inches below my eye level which is perfect for me. I am thinking that I need to get a second windshield that is taller so that it will deflect the wind above her face. Do you think this will work? Thanks and any other tips would be appreciated.

The stock w/s on my Ltd. worked well for 2-up and my wife didn't get too much wind on the passenger seat. However, the top edge was right in my line of sight and it drove me fricken nuts. I bought a 9" and a 10.5" clearview. The 9" works great for me solo but the wind is at the top of my helmet and I think it will probably have the same problems as your cut-down. If it's too windy for my wife, I'll put the 10.5" w/s on. I'm sure a taller w/s will improve your passenger's comfort. The recurve w/s's should provide better wind management with lower height.

I posted some pics of the 9" on a Clearview-related thread somewhere.

I have a 12" recurve Clearview fitted with Saetang edging, wife says no problem with turbulence. I look just over the top of the screen

I had to add a taller windshield for my wife. I used the taller Harley shield for the Ultra, I believe it is 3" taller than standard, it made everything great for her. I now look through the windshield, which is kind of strange but it works okay.

what did your wife say about riding two up with the stock 12" windshield height, any buffeting then? I have thought about putting on a 9.5" recurve but my wife says she has no buffeting or turbulence problems at all, so why possibly create a problem when I don't have one now...

She never had a chance to ride with the ws stock. I cut down before she could ride. I think I'm going to try a tall H-D ws and see if it helps.

If you can, swap windscreens with some of your riding buddies and see what she likes before you buy one

get a flhtcustomshield for 2-up, I have a 14.5 flat-top
that I got for that reason and I keep on all the time
now, had a friend find a wild turkey that commited
suicide on his bike this past week and I just wouldn't
want something like that to end up in my lap going 70.
He had a larger than stock shield and I think it helped him.
