Looking at EG Classics, Ultra Classics & Street/Road Glides.
I'm under the impression that ABS is something that I need to have - but I'm not so sure where I got that impression from.
What are your thoughts/experience with ABS (or lack of ABS) and what would you suggest. I'm leaning towards making sure my next scoot has it, but it does limit my choices at the stealership too.
i have abs on my 09 r/g and i'm not sure i would have it on another been riding a long time. took a long time to get used to holding breaks on with out pumping them like the old way
I'm old school with a new Ultra...Obviously, No ABS !. Why the hype of having ABS ?. I'm a very cautious motorcyclist, but I know anything can happen. Just pray nothing happens to me and my lady (knock on wood).
my wifes 08 RKC has them and she likes them, has had them activate when a deer ran out in front of her, don't know if it "saved" her or not but she did say they worked, my SG doesn't have them because we have 3 dealers within 30 miles of us that do not carry in bikes with abs, claim they were not selling so they won't stock them, my wifes bike was bought at a dealer 8 hours away. I could have ordered mine with abs but really didn't feel that it was worth the wait, if it would have been in stock with abs i probably would have taken it.
Get it, if you dont like it then its easy to disable.
if you ride hard you might not like it, the HD ABS has this tendency to kick in when you have the brakes on hard, and the braking force reduces noticably, riding hard in the dry I unplug it.
On the other hand on a wet greasy road it is handy, so it usually gets plugged back in when it rains.
