To some degree, yes. But she made the decision on her own, I didn't try to talk her into it.

Yes, because regardless of what the forum members say here.. I would guess 99% of the women who own and ride their own bikes did so because their husband or significant other was riding first.

I am a responsible person so is she.
I didn't force her to ride, it was her own decision.
I taught her, bought a bike for her to learn on and started her out slow. She was about 2 seconds behind me when I hit a deer. She knows the risks and rides a lot safer than I do.
Would you feel responsible if something happened to you?
How about with her as a passenger?

Amen to that. Heard a story where a couple was riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway and a deer jumped out in front of them. I can only guess they were going too fast as it is a 45 MPH road and he must have laid on the front brake. Apparently she went flying over him and the bike and died.

Who's idea was it?
Did you say "Hey honey do you want your own bike"?
Or did she say "You know honey, I would like to have my own bike".

That would make a difference, who brought up the idea?

I would absolutely feel guilty, but she/they are adults and know the risks. I would insist on the riders course and the advanced class every other year just to help with skills.

Like others, it would be even worse if something happened with her on the back...

Personally, I would feel some degree of responsibility under any circumstance. I think it's in our DNA/testosterone/whatever that we are to always protect our loved ones. However, she obviously enjoys riding and she understands the risk/reward factor. I'm sure she'd feel some responsibility if the tables were turned as well.
