Ok I'm installing an after market amp. I am using the stock head unit. DO I use the high level speaker input to the amp or do I get a speaker level to rca connector and use the low level input ? What is the difference ? Sorry not an audiophile, just a guy that wants loud jams.
If you have the RCA connectors use it as it will give you a cleaner signal.
The difference between the two is that the high level inputs will output a full signal (distortion and all) when the radio is turned all the way up whereas the low level will put out a clean signal for your amp.

Stock head units should not have RCA connectors. Unless you have a some strange headunit or aftermarket, you'll need to the speaker level inputs.
Pre-amp out RCA cables can be installed into the HK radio by Iron Cross Audio.
Much cleaner signal and you can push the amp harder with less distortion.
