I plugged in my Garmin to the AUX on the Limited. When I want to listen to directions I have to have it set to AUX and you can't hear any tunes. Is there a way to set it so I can listen to tunes and when the GPS gives directions it will mute or lesson the tunes and let you hear the GPS directions?
Thats pretty much how it is designed. The AUX input is basically for an outboard iPod or MP3 player.
Now - you may be in luck if your Garmin can also play MP3's - what model is it?
I have a 785T that I have loaded up with music - and the Nav directions come right over the tunes - just like a built in system in a car.
Unfortunately the GPS and radio head unit do not interract at all - so plugging the Garmin into the Aux and having silence is pretty much as expected until directions are output by the Garmin.

It's a HK unit that comes on the Limited.
Is that an option on the limited..I hope so, cause I didn't get one!!
Does it have an mp3 player in it? My Garmin 765T has an MP3 plugged either to an fm channel wireless or Aux input and I hear tunes from the mp3 out from the HK stereo and mutes it when direction are given.
thats the way t works, get a memory card for the gps 2gb will do, you can load about 500 songs on it. check your gps owners manual, or you can keep switching between fm, cd, and aux

I find that the FM transmitter in the Garmin is kinda cheezy. The sound quality is sub par to the cable from the audio out into the Aux in - not to mention having to potentially change the frequency during long trips. Mind you, my initial driver for getting a GPS with a FM transmitter was to forego the cable. Oh well... I use the cable exclusively now and am happy with the results.
Only way to hear the GPS and also use the HK audio:
1) J&M Phone/GPS/radar integration kit, p/n "CFRG HRUC"
2) Harness kit to adapt above to HD dressers,
p/n "CFRG ZUMO550" (also works for Zumo 660)
Did the above on my Limited, works great, GPS and phone overdide the tunes anytime the GPS lady talks to you or you get a phone call. Pricey though, 370 and 80 big ones respectively.
This is kind of bullshit. The HK has a "Nav" feature built in. Why doesn't HD have a way to plug in the Zumo 660 (HD specific) into that connection? Why do I have an $800 HD specific Garmin on the left handlebar that needs to be wired to the front of something on the other side of the fairing?

Not happy with this one...
I'm not happy with this one either. Ya just spend 26 grand on a bike and have to do all sorts of patch work to have it function like it should in the first place. Yuck!!
