I have an '08 Road Glide that has the cruise control issues that some others have had. I bought the bike new in the spring of '09 (got a smoking deal on an overstock) and within the first 800 miles it exibited the speeding up phenomena several times and then worked normally for the rest of the riding season. I took it to the dealer and they pretended like they never heard of such a thing but, did the cruise diagnostic with the set/resume switch and it was working normally. After getting the bike out after the winter everything was working normally until this past week when the engine light came on and set a code. It was P0577, Cruise Control Input Error. The engine light is on most of the time and the cruise is inoperative except for a brief time on the way home last night. It is still on warranty and I'm taking to the dealer again but, I was wondering if there are any definite fixes such as the set/resume switch, a reflash or something else. I want to be as informed as possible when I take it in. Any help is greatly appreciated.
i had the same thing after several tripps to the dealer i gave up, it seems to have fixed itself, a few things ive read were the switch cleen it with some contact cleener, the other is speed sensor.
I had a similar issue with cruise on my '08 EGC and it turned out to be my having an unnecessary load equalizer on my Kury run/turn/brake module. I removed the equalizer and have had no issues with the cruise or lights 20,000 miles later.
I must be one of the lucky ones (knock on wood) who owns an 08 Touring who hasn't experienced TBW, ABS or Cruise control issues. My bike must of been assembled on a Tue/Wed/Thurs?
My bike doesn't have ABS but, I did have the high idle issue until I read about taking your hand off the throttle before you shut the engine down. Hasn't done it since and the only issue I have is the cruise control. When it works it works great, better than some cars I've driven. In doing some research into this problem I found a blog on the Tune Your Harley site about wiring issues at the ECM connector on '09- '10 tourings bikes, as well as some '08 bikes. http://tuneyourharley.com/biketech/c...harness-issues
It's something else to look at. What bothers me is that it is an intermittent problem and those are always the hardest to track down. And you know it will work perfectly when the dealer has it.
when i took my 08 streetglide in to get the stage 1 download i left the dealership and turned on my cruise control, the harley cruise unit, and there was no longer any cruise control. somehow the stage 1 download lost the cruise control. i'm glad i noticed it before i left tulsa, so i was able to make a u-turn and get back to the dealership and it was a five minute fix for them. if you change out your handlebar levers you may end up screwing up the brakelight switch, which will turn off your cruise control also.
