Default shocking question

I have a 2007 RK custom that I would like to improve the ride quality without raising the ride height. I was reading that if you go with the stock 13" shocks from a standard RK and use the dreaded lowering brackets. Will this work to provide better ride quality?

If there is more traver in the shock and you have more adjustability i would think it would...are the shocks different lenghts on both bikes though.

he has a road king custom, the shocks are the same as the street glide (and now road glide custom), 12". stock on the other bikes is 13".

Almost any aftermarket shock will improve the ride of your King. You can even have the stockers re-worked. Lowering kits are problematic - you might get lucky and not have any problems but you could also end up with fender rub issues and/or clanking. Then you'll wish you'd have spent that money on a re-valve or better shocks.

I know someone must have tried the combination I am talking about. (13" shocks and lowering kit vs stock 12" shocks) Looking for some first hand experience

The lowering brackets you are talking about adding, IMO, will not help the ride on your bike. Changes the shock angle and can bring about more problems such as rubs and in extreme cases these brackets can break or crack. I would stay away from them and either have your shocks modified to your specs or get some new ones that would be a great improvement over stock.
