Default front end conversion

I would like to convert the front end of my 90' FLHS to the newer looking roadking style. Is it even possible and would it be cost prohibitive? Can I just change the insterment cluster, headlight nacelle, and tank or will I be better off the replace the entire front end?

Thanks for any input.

Terry

Not sure here...but why would you replace the tank? RK's have a 5.1. Keep the larger. How many people would really notice and how many would care? If anything, the larger tank would be great.

I think it would be much easier/cheaper changing your ride to a RK than a RK into a FLHS.

I always liked the FLHS, especially the instrument cluster. My guess, and it IS a guess, is that it might be easier for an entire front end swap. Be an interesting project!

I have a 93 FLHS and was curious about the same thing. You'd need to replace the tank if you wanted the tank mounted Gauges. Wiring would probably need to be totally redone to hide it in headlight nacelle. In my mind- probably not worth the effort. Might be cheaper to sell the FLHS and buy an older Road king. I never see FLHSs on the road. maybe they will become a collectors item, who know?

jsd245,
I like the bike overall, she runs strong, just looking for a newer sleeker look. I think that you may be right about the cost and effort.

Do you have a windshield on yours? I've seen some without windshields, and I've got to say they are kind of funky looking. The instrument panel sticks way up high and kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. However, when you add a windshield it seems to make the front end flow together a lot better, and I think my bike looks pretty good.
