well i got my answer today from the Harley represenative that came down to listen to my bike...I had it in for the loud ticking noise coming from the valve train.....after the dealership took the top end apart all they could find was a scored lifter....that they replaced....and i opted for the se-255's while they had it down.......put it all back together.....and still a loud *** ticking noise....so i show up with the harley rep and he proceeded to tell me that the noise is due to me having rinehart pipes on and an open breather and tuner....i told him i didn't buy that because i picked up my bike brand new with all those items on there.....and the bike didn't sound like that when i bought it....didn't sound like that at a 1,xxx miles or even until 4,500....then has progressivly gotten worse....so he then takes me outside to his newer streetglide with 10,xxx miles on it and has me listen to his....it sounded like a duramax.....like a diesel engine....nocking like it didn't have any oil in it....and told me that bikes make noise.....i told him it sounded like he had 2 bikes that needed work on.....not just mine.....i had never heard a bike sound that horrible.....bottom line was Harley wasn't going to do anything to remedy the issue.......
I left and calmed down....then called the manager of the store that i had bought the bike from 6 months ago....he told me that he spoke to the rep and that Bill...the rep had acknoledged that my bike was making a ticking noise louder than it probably should and this is the 3rd bike this week he has denied fixing.........the
the dealer is willing to try and put me in a 2012 bike same as mine at cost....but its still gonna cost me....i've already payed for a new bike onced this year....whats to say im not gonna get another ticking bike....of the bikes ive had before..never had one that made this type of noise....my friends 103's don't make this noise....it drives me crazy..........i wanted to slap the f*ck out of this punk bill.......the arrogance and just didn't care attitude......extremly disappointed in Harley right now....
He's not an idiot...It takes alot of strength and intelligence to lie through your teeth all day long and make it look like it's the customer's fault/mistake.
i wish i would have kept my bike i traded in also.....and when i say he has denied fixing 3 bikes this week...i mean he has denied fixing 3 bikes this week all with the complaints of loud ticking noise from valve train...they are aware this an issue in certain bikes....but arent prepared to fix them.....mind you the manager of the dealership has acknoledged that my bike is making an excessive ticking noise as well as his mechanics....all are in agreement that my bike shouldn't be making this noise....so its not just im whining or don't realize bikes make noise as he stated......even the manager and his mechanics were surprised....or at least acted surprised....this guy is a real punk.....and im screwed into either keeping the bike and listening to it get worse....or paying more money and taking a chance on getting another bike that they won't stand behind...
This is rhe kind of crap GM and RIM (Blackberry) pulled when they dominate the market and think they have a captive audience. They lost market share, unfortunately HD does have a captive market.
I love my 03. Why don't you look for an older bike wirh low miles? Winter is a good time to do that. Good luck.
This is what kills me when someone asks "should I buy an extended warranty". Moco doesn't even honor their 2 year warranty! Why throw money away on the extended one?

Have you tried taking it to another dealer and not telling them what you have already been through? They might find the problem and then you will have ammo to use when you go back to your dealer. Just a thought
Will the original selling dealer work with you in going over the "punk's" head? Just curious... I think that's where I'd be headed next. Document everything with every detail you can possibly recall in case you seek alternate legal remedy. Do you have a "legal" friend who might be willing to listen to your plight and at least advise whether you may have recourse.
I do not believe in supporting lawyers in any way, but sometimes it is the only recourse.....
the dealer acts like hes trying to help....but tells me his hands are tied....and that Bill the rep is curious how im wanting to handle this....if i was asking for a new motor or what i was wanting....he told him no....not at all....that i only wanted my bike back with out the noise....the manager is supposed to get back at me monday with the numbers he comes up with.....but like i said....i end up paying.......i think i will consider a lemon law attorney....obviously too many people are having issues with this for there not to be a problem....
