I was looking at the Daytona Twin Tec website the other day and noted something interesting. Under "Links" there is a pull-down menu of distributors. Zippers is listed there with "private label" in parenthesis. I wonder what Daytona Twin Tec product they distribute under a "private label"?
I would be willing to bet Zippers get's the wide band O2 sensor system from DTT that works with the Thundermax. DTT seems to be the leader in the industry with their products, especially the wide band stuff AND their FI modules. Who knows, maybe the Thundermax is really a DTT FI controller module ?????
I wondered about that myself. Talked to the guy at length and he told me it was from a company called Thunderheart performance. Never heard of them myself though. The software also looks a lot different than DTT. But that's just the software. I do know the map is very solid. So far I'm impressed. But maybe I'm just easily impressed.
I am just installing the o2 bungs in my rinehart pipes, the orginal bung was to for back, twin tec says 2 to 8 inches away from heads so i did the pipe install to see exactly where them to be the best functional and of course the best looking place to put them also, and the ended up closer to the 8" mark. i wanted the close to equal distance and the back pipe determined the front placement. I will keep you guys posted and i will probable take me a week or so to get it installed and running.
thanks.
ps, I am a twin tec dealer and my offer a special deal to forum helpers If it works as good as it should.
I used the stock O2 position on the Rineharts and put the second bung under the rear pipe just by the primary and have been riding and watching for a couple of months now with no ill effects. I figure that I would start out with one less hole and move the sensor it things complained or didn't work. The WEGO seems happy and the Twin Tec hasn't raised it's hand to complain. The engine fires first time, everytime.(ok I've got a bit of adjusting left on a hot start (temp table)...still have to open the throttle a bit...I've just been lazy. Maybe this weekend)
I'm not recommending the offset positions...just reporting that it doesn't seem to mind. Performance and economy is good.
I have the Rinehart pipes and put both O2s about 8" away from the heads (twin tec recomends 2-8 inches), and so far so good the system is working and i am dialing it in, I would prefer thay made a instructional video though.
