+1..... They are all cast aluminum. One is not going to be stronger than the other. The Heli-coil will be though.

Could be the mat'l or the threads were oversize to begin with.

I agree with the the others about using thread inserts to repair the housing.

Well tomorrow it's goning to get started and run for a bit to see if it leaks. If it does leak then I agree on the heli coil.

Scratch that, I had to do another one this morning following a clutch adjustment. That's 3 out of 5 of my derby cover screws that have brought the threads out with them. I was tempted to drill out the remaining 2 and just get it over with.
