About a year and a half ago I had a new HD Inner Primary installed at the dealer and have had three issues with bolts stripping since. The starter bolts stripped after being reinstalled a second time from a inner shaft leaking. Today I had the outer cover off and when I reinstalled it, the number 5 bolt stripped. And with barely more than 9 nms on the wrench, as per the manual. Sucky crap materials. Threads from the primary came right out on the bolt when I backed it out. I put the bolt back in with some plumbers tape, but still it wants to spin.
So with any luck the number 5 bolt area wont leak (? !!) but either way I have to get another inner.
Please, anyone with a good suggestion on where to buy one that's made with harder materials, I'd appreciate the info.
You can also tap out the hole to the next size, drill the cover and put a new larger bolt in that hole. Doubt anyone would even notice. Much simpler than putting a heli-coil in that hole.

Just my 2 cents.
NOPE!!
Heli-coil it, keep the correct size fastener. Wont have to deal with to small a lip around a 5/16" hole in the cover, enlarging the gasket hole and reducing the sealing surface area. Just fix it right with the heli-coil, it will be stronger than before!
