Default Mods When Getting Bike Serviced

For those of you that get your bike serviced at the dealer, what do they do with mods while servicing your bike? For instance, I have a PCV, what will they do with it if they need to get to the battery? Take it off and put it back on? I also have some stuff attached to the battery, a ton of electronics in the fairing etc. Do they just remove anything they need to remove and put it back on when done? What if they put it back on wrong, break it, etc? Are you on your own, or will they cover it?

I would let the service manager know about the mods that you have done before having him or her write up the service order. Get a feel for how they react to those mods.

In my case, I also ask that a certain tech work on my bike. If I have to wait for his slot to be free, I don't mind because he knows the mods that I have done and knows my bike.

I think, in most cases, dealers are quite aware of the mods many of us have done to our bikes, that too for the better. If you are up front with the service manager a lot of worries are taken care of.

Hope this helps.

When I do let them service, they work around the mods. Most bikes are customized to a point and thus are different in small ways. I have never had anything damaged while they worked on them.
