I had a spare windshield so I put a "Boom Box" type radio on my Road King. It worked fine for two weeks now its cutting in and out. I plan on taking the box apart today to check the radio, connections, and speakers but I'd like to rule out the simple stuff first.
2003 Road King Classic - stock electrical system
I used the wiring provided with the Crazy Biker kit, its a Pioneer radio and speakers, and yes I do plan on checking head unit to speaker impedance and wiring tonight.
I connected the CONSTANT POWER and GROUND directly to the battery. I tagged off the 10 amp fuse on the left side marked for PURSUIT LIGHTS for the SWITCHED POWER SUPPLY. The switched power supply should only be a signal switch and shouldn't draw much in the way of amperage.
Is there a reason why the PURSUIT LIGHT system would be the culprit?
On a Road King Classic, what else is powered off the PURSUIT LIGHT fuse?
Any ideas outside of the head unit as to why its cutting out?

Off hand, that type of radio system isn't normally good to use exposed to the weather. Humidity, rain, dust and vibration will play havoc with a system like that.
I have two windshields, this one is in the hall closet when the weather doesn't cooperate. I got this whole set-up second hand and plan on eventually replacing with a Marine head unit.
