Default Fat Cat muffler clamp doesn't hold

Installed my Black Fat Cat on my '07 Street glide. Torqued the clamp, the muffler slips back when I ride it. Any Fat Cat guys got a similar experience? Solutions?

If you purchased through us, call the shop tomorrow morning and we can get you a new clamp. If not I recommend calling D&D. They have great customer service and will be mroe than willing to help us out. (817)834-8961 is D&D.

Had the same problem. It's not the clamp, it's the alignment. Tighten the clamp with the rear mounting bolts removed, then shim the rear so that it don't pull the muffler up or down. Once you get the alignment correct it won't move.

Yes I had this problem. Don't panic it's an easy fix check the depth of the relief slots on the muffler. They need to be just about the width of the clamp. I used a dremel with a cut off wheel. I had to cut mine back about 1/8 of an inch.

I suspected that before I posted. When I bought the pipe it was hanging on the wall of a local dealership. I found out that they didn't include the spacers that go on top of the standoffs. I put a couple of washers on them and called D&D yesterday. The proper spacers are on their way. After reading your post I added enough washers to better align the muffler. That did the trick. I rode about 40 miles tonight and it's fine. I'll get it dyno tuned Tuesday. Thanks for the replies. The alignment was it.

When I installed my Fatcat that little tiny clamp bolt they supply snapped long before I reached the torque spec. I drilled and tapped the setup for a larger bolt.

Fatclamps suck. I have a spare in my saddle bag and buy extra bolts. The bolts fatcat provides are crap.

In general I hate fatcat, burning holes through my jeans.

Just broke another this week taking the pipe off.
