handlebar fabrication
Anyone ever make their own handlebars? Seems like all you'd need is some 1"tube, a chop saw and a welder to make some Z looking bars. Maybe have a machine shop knurl them.
I just can't seem to find any that really fit me. +2 Sweepers are about 2" too short for my stubby little arms. Otherwise, I love them.

No help here, but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn last night.. In the early 90's I bought a low rider off a guy that did all his own custom work, the bars he had on the bike were made out of what you said, a pipe, he bent it and he cut holes in it for all the in the bar wiring, they looked sort of like drag bars.
