compass calibration?

compass calibration?
my bagger came with the 74441-02A compass kit on it..last owner put black electrical tape on it so he would see it spinning in circles constantly....
i've done a search but haven't found the calibration/swing instructions...can anyone help?

I had one on my bike, when it was out of calibration it just gave bad readings, when it spun constantly it was because the electronics in it where fried and it had to be replaced, my guess is the unit is no good

Most people replacve em with an oil temp gauge.
