i have an 07 Streetglide with 29,000 miles on it, just recently it has begun to "PEG" out in the 120 degree position instead of the usual 80-90 give or take. has anyone else had this issue and is it a must to be fixed. mine will most likey be fixed under extended warranty, but is it truely needed. i hear harley makes a kit that replaces it with an actual
"OIL TEMP" readout. thanks for any and all help guys...oh and Gals.
I never even look at that gauge, as I agree that it SUCKS!! I am curious about the oil temp gauge though, so I will be listening for more comments on that.

Certanly not a "must" to fix as it's inaccurate and generally useless anyway. Many (including myself) dumped it for a useful oil temp gauge.
This is exactly what HD want us to do with it-- trash it and spend more money. You can keep the light bulb out of it for a replacement when needed though.
So how hard is the oil temp gauge install? Is it all just plug and play, like the rest? I haven't really thought too much about it, until recently, so I haven't done any research yet. Getting tired of the useless air temp gauge though!

Installation is simple. I changed mine out shortly after I got the bike.
I can tell if I need a jacket or not without that damn factory gauge thanks.
