Mine is pretty spot on if I stand about 10 feet away to the left of the bike. However, if it is after 12pm, I have to stand to the right in a slight crouch.
That damn air temp is the most useless thing on the bike. Like you need a temp guage to tell you it's hot outside? Replace it and get the oil temp, move it under the oil pressure guage so that they're above and below each other.
