I've decided to go from my Dyna to a Street Glide. I understand they changed the frame in 2009. Is there a lot of difference between the pre 09 models and the 09-10 models as far as handling or ride with the different frame. I've found a really nice 08 (with ABS which is one of my criteria) at what I think is a fair price. However, I can get basically the same bike for $2K more in an 09. Is the frame change worth the extra $? My understanding is that everything else is about the same. Am I missing something? Thanks.
You should be able to rent an '09 at the dealership if you don't know somebody that will let you ride theirs. Most of the people that bought 10's will tell you the frame is worth it, most of the people with the '08 and back will tell you that it's perfect. Your money, go ride some and decide for yourself.
bigger tires on the 09 but if your vertically challenged the 09 is a little wider and taller, many get ride and handling confused, my opinion the 08 rides a little better but the 09 handles way better.and they moved the exhaust on the 09 the rider and passenger should feel less heat.
I have an 08 sg and would recommened the 09.Not just for the chassis, but for fuel managment purposes to.The 08's connections are different from the 09 and that's why everyone had problems with making one for it.

Thanks for the info. One of the reasons I have put off upgrading to a newer bike is the heat issue. I rented a 2008 Dyna a found it to be really, really hot when stuck in traffic. So, the 09 handles better and rides cooler. Seems like two difference that are worth paying additional for.

I assume you are referring to aftermarket fuel management solutions.
Thanks again for the responses.
the 09 still runs hot u just dont feel it as much because the exhuast is rerouted, and the 09 has higher wiieght ratings and slighlty larger saddlebags.the owner at my local dealer has stated many times the 09 is his favorite year for the ultra.
The 10 has the frame upgrade, 18 inch front tire, different 5th gear (supposed to be quieter), and a different gear ratio than the earlier models. I love mine, it is an awesome ride.
